Clodfelter Insurance Agency, Inc. was established in 1987, in Rock Port Missouri by James and Alma Clodfelter. After working in the insurance industry for 4 years in Nebraska, James decided to move back to his hometown of Rock Port to start his own business from the ground up. James, his wife, Alma, and their dedicated staff, have quickly built a strong business in the community through personalized customer service and exceptional knowledge of the industry. In 2001, James purchased McCrory and Associates to expand their business to their second location in Mound City, Missouri.
James “Jim” Clodfelter
Jim graduated from Rock Port High School in 1973. He attended Northwest Missouri State University. Jim moved to western Nebraska and began his insurance career in Kimball, Nebraska in 1983, where he continued working for 4 years. In 1987, Jim returned to Rock Port, Missouri and started his own agency. In 1993, Jim earned Certified Insurance Counselor (CIC) accreditation from the National Alliance of Insurance Education and Research. Jim holds insurance licenses in Property, Casualty, Life and Health Insurance in Missouri, Kansas, Iowa, Nebraska & Colorado. Jim has always taken pride in serving his local community. Jim currently serves as Rock Port Chamber of Commerce President and Grace Community Church President. Jim serves on the Rock Port Salvation Army Board of Directors and is a member of the Rock Port Rotary Club. He has previously served as President of the Atchison County Development Corporation, served on the Rock Port School Board and was a volunteer for our local Fire Department, Jim and his wife, Alma, founded Rock Port Outreach Ministry and have led many mission groups to El Salvador. Jim loves spending time with his family, and enjoys trap shooting, hunting & fishing, golf and traveling.
Alma Clodfelter
Alma graduated from a business school in El Salvador as a Bilingual Professional Secretary. Alma came to the United States as a foreign student from El Salvador in 1978. Alma graduated from Dix High School in 1979 and continued her education at Southwest Nebraska Technical College. In 1979, Alma met Jim and they married in 1980. They have been blessed with three children and five grandchildren. Alma has continued to work beside her husband, as Office Manager, since they established their insurance agency in 1987. Alma enjoys gardening, cooking, and most of all, spending time with her family.
Alma loves working with herbs and established “Almas Herbs” in 2016. Almas Herbs is located in Rock Port Missouri in the back of Clodfelter Insurance Agency, Inc. Business hours are Monday through Friday, from 8:30 AM – 5 PM. Alma is an Herb Specialist, a Nutrition Specialist, and a Certified Essential Oils Specialist. She is a distributor for Natures Sunshine, NOW and Emu Oil, and has various other products available in her shop.
Charles “Charlie” Clodfelter
Charlie grew up in Rock Port, Missouri and attended Rock Port High School. He has an undergraduate degree in Business Administration from the University of Nebraska in Omaha. Charlie started with Clodfelter Insurance in 2003 managing the office in Mound City, Missouri, and left in 2017 to work for Lettuce Dream in Maryville, Missouri. He recently rejoined the agency in June of 2021. Charlie brings over 10 years of experience working in the agriculture agricultural industry. For the last four and a half years, he managed a hydroponic greenhouse which provided contracted employment services through the Department of Mental Health for people with disabilities. He also brings 14 years of insurance industry experience back to the agency, and has held a Certified Insurance Counselor accreditation. Charlie and his wife, Julie, have three children, Maya, Aleyda and Sadie, who will be attending Rock Port Elementary School. Charlie enjoys gardening, weight training, craft beer and loves spending time his free time visiting skateparks with his children.
Melinda Makings
Melinda grew up in Fairfax, Missouri and graduated from high school in 2002. Melinda earned a degree in Elementary Education through Peru State College. She taught at Craig and South Holt Schools. Melinda also worked as a Credit Secretary at Citizens Bank and Trust for five years. Melinda began her insurance career at Clodfelter Insurance Agency, Inc. in June 2014. She earned he License to sell Property and Casualty Insurance in Missouri in November 2014. Melinda loves spending time with her family and friends, and her dogs Jax & Scout. She also enjoys spending time at the lake and collecting figurines.
